Steve, This modified HSA approach could theoretically greatly reduce healthcare costs and improve quality and health. But, as a busy family practitioner, I would characterize my HSA insureds as intelligent, healthy, independent, and rare. The other 99.5% of my patients want first dollar entitlement and minimal effort required on their part. It might fix the broken system, but I fear it lacks political momentum.

I certainly agree with the list of ten commandments. Now the question is, "What is the single thing that can be done right now that would have the greatest impact on health care?" Note that I said, "can be done" not should be done. I want something that is actually do-able in this left vs right divided society and congress. It must be simple and so totally obvious that it can't be denied.
